Read previewThe most competitive rental markets in the country are failing to add enough new housing. That's according to a new analysis of the country's 139 largest rental markets by RentCafe, which found that 17 of the 20 most competitive rental markets in the US are building less than the national average. Miami has the most competitive rental housing market in the country, the report found. Just 3.5% of Miami's rental apartments were vacant early this year — far below the five to eight percent vacancy rate that's considered healthy. Seven midwestern cities are among the top 20 most competitive markets in the US.

CNN —NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers responded on Thursday to CNN reporting that he shared in private conversations false conspiracy theories about the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. Another source, to whom CNN has granted anonymity so as to avoid harassment, recalled that several years ago, Rodgers claimed Sandy Hook “never happened” and that the children were “actors.”“Sandy Hook never happened … All those children never existed. A gunman in December of 2012 opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, killing 20 children and six adults. CNN —Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has confirmed that among his potential vice-presidential prospects is New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who in private conversations shared deranged conspiracy theories about the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting not being real. Hearing that she was a journalist with CNN, Rodgers immediately began attacking the news media for covering up important stories. Such conspiracy theories were also later at the center of lawsuits brought by victims’ families when they sued conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on the matter. This person, to whom CNN has granted anonymity so as to avoid harassment, recalled that several years ago, Rodgers claimed, “Sandy Hook never happened…All those children never existed. Kennedy told CNN in an interview on Tuesday that he had recently met with Rodgers, as well as former Minnesota Gov.

Founded in 2017, Athletic Brewing Co. opened the doors to its nonalcoholic craft brewing facility within a year. Unlike other brewing companies, Athletic Brewing didn't cut its teeth making alcoholic beer before pivoting into nonalcoholic options. Instead, Athletic Brewing was founded on the idea that nonalcoholic beer didn't need to be a niche category with limited offerings. Fast forward to 2024, and Athletic Brewing is now dominating the nonalcoholic beer market. According to NielsenIQ data, Athletic Brewing represents 19% of the domestic nonalcoholic beer market, making it the top nonalcoholic beer brand in the country.

That added to the massive debt burdens already placed on the hospitals by their for-profit owners, deepening their financial woes. In January, MPT reported that its biggest tenant, a nationwide chain of 32 hospitals called Steward, could no longer pay its rent. The core idea was simple: to buy hospital real estate, pocket the lease payments, and use the money to reward investors. The more hospital real estate that MPT buys, the more money it makes in rent payments from the hospitals. But that doesn't mean that MPT's leaders didn't get rich off its hospital deals.

While loneliness among older adults has been an issue for years, the pandemic exacerbated it across all age groups. Some experts told me that cities could help counter loneliness with policies that bolster senior centers and ensure accessibility to vital resources and that governments should invest more in mitigating loneliness for older adults. That's largely why Lamy felt compelled to organize an easy way for older adults in the community to meet and talk to one another. What we know is that isolation and loneliness among older people tend to lead to pretty serious health complications very quickly. So there is a real reason for us to try to help older people find connection."

Here are some key findings from an Associated Press investigation into Rocha's alleged betrayal and the missed red flags that could have helped him avoid scrutiny for decades. Rodríguez told AP he believed at the time he received from the Cuban defector in 2006 was an attempt to discredit a fellow anti-communist crusader. It wasn’t just Rodríguez’s tipster — whom he refused to identify to the AP but says was recently interviewed by the FBI. Officials told the AP that as early 1987, the CIA was aware Castro had a “super mole” burrowed deep inside the U.S. government. The near-absence of laws criminalizing the practice of fertility fraud until recently means no doctors have yet been criminally charged for the behavior. In 2019, Indiana became the second state, more than 20 years after California, to pass a statute making fertility fraud a felony. He added some of his biological children have “expressed gratitude for their existence” to him and even sent him photos of their own children. Cline’s case spurred lawmakers to pass legislation that outlawed fertility fraud but wasn’t retroactive, meaning he was never prosecuted for it. “In fertility fraud, no parent is saying that – no parent is saying I would have gotten an abortion,” she said.

Johnson isn't buying arguments from the bill's Republican backers that she didn't inspire the proposed change to a longstanding law. Republican state lawmakers who favor the ban have argued that winning twice often means abandoning the lower office, creating a costly special election. Johnson narrowly escaped expulsion last year for her role in a pro-gun control protest inside the Tennessee House chamber. WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans are critical of diversity and inclusion programs within the federal government and elsewhere, but they see recruiting women and minority candidates, along with veterans, as key to expanding their slim majority in November. “These are not run-of-the-mill generic Republicans," Hudson said. And so we’re using that same formula.”When asked what she makes of the House Republican focus on recruiting females and minorities, the chair of the campaign arm for House Democrats was skeptical. It's not just House Republicans seeking to end such programs. Hudson sidestepped on whether the focus on attracting female and minority candidates as House Republican candidates clashes with efforts to clamp down on diversity and inclusion programs within the federal government and elsewhere.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Marijuana retailers in Connecticut say a dearth of licensed growers in the state’s fledgling legal pot industry has left them with a shortage of product to sell. The supply problem has appeared after slow retail growth in neighboring New York last year left growers there struggling with the opposite: an excess of supply. So each state that legalizes marijuana is left with its own process for licensing growers and sellers, and trying to create a balance between the two within state borders. When recreational sales became legal in Connecticut in January 2023, he said, there were seven dispensaries in the state and four producers. New York belatedly hastened the pace of retail openings, and the state listed 61 adult-use dispensaries open statewide Monday.
